Assemble your own Shaving Kit

Shaving kits are convenient ways of lugging around your personal shaving essentials to wherever you need to go. Having your own kits also ensure that you'll be using products which you've tried and tested for your skin and have decided that these are the best products that work for you. It eliminates the hassle of running up to the nearest drug store or department store wherever your next destination is and buying whatever they have instead of what you're used to.

So what's a shaving kit and what do you put in it? Here are a couple of essentials you might want to remember and pack in your own shaving kit.

A razor blade - whether it's a disposable razor, a straight razor, a cartridge or an electric shaver, make sure you've got one in your kit. The blade should be folded and in the case of disposable razors, capped.

Pre - shave Oil - in cases where there's no immediate hot water at your disposal, pre shave oils are great substitutes in softening and moistening the hairs and the skin to prepare it for a smooth, painless shave.

Shaving foam / gel / cream - this will help avoid razor burns and skin irritation while you're shaving. It protects your face with a rich lather. This is a must especially if you're using a straight razor.

Aftershave or aftershave balm - this antiseptic helps close the pores after a shave, protecting your skin from irritants and and preventing infection. Aftershaves also help freshen the skin and leave a little fresh scent when applied.

Shaving Soap - in case you don't want to put a can or a tub of shaving cream in your kit, bring this. It acts just like a shaving cream would while leaving your skin moisturized after a smooth shave.

Shaving Brush - this special brush is handy in spreading shaving cream or shaving soap lather on your face.

Disposable Blades / Refills for Disposable Cartridges - it's always handy to bring an extra set since these blades tend to rust easily and need to be replaced often. They lose the sharp edge after two or three uses. It's better to bring extras than try to shave with a rusted or nicked blade and cut yourself in the process.

So stock up and prepare a shaving kit so that the next time you're out the door, you'd have your very own shaving kit with you for convenience.
